What we do best

Documentary storytelling for development programmes

Most video production companies can point a camera at a project site. Far fewer understand what a programme documentary actually has to do — satisfy a donor, hold up in an evaluation, move a room at a launch event, and represent the people in it with dignity.

We have spent a decade doing this work in Nigeria: sourcing archive across 25 years of an organisation’s history, filming smallholder farmers across three states, navigating restrictions around courts and correctional facilities, and working in Borno, Benue, Kaduna and Kano when the story required it.

We are based in Abuja — the same city as the country offices, donor missions and embassies we work with. That proximity is practical, not decorative. It means shorter lead times, lower mobilisation costs and a team that can be in a briefing tomorrow morning.

We know these programmes from the inside

I

Climate, Agriculture & Livelihoods

Our deepest specialism. Smallholder agriculture, food security, climate adaptation and resilience, and energy access. We produced six films across Lagos, Oyo and Ogun for HortiNigeria — the IFDC-led, Dutch-funded horticulture programme — and were commissioned again the following year.

HortiNigeria (IFDC / Netherlands Embassy) · Lives & Livelihoods Fund, Kano · Prado Power, Benue · UNDP Accelerator Lab
II

Health & Nutrition

Clinical research, epidemic response and community health. We produced a research film on histoplasmosis in people living with HIV for CHAI and Unitaid, and documented Christian Aid's COVID-19 response across Benue, Kaduna and Borno.

CHAI / Unitaid · Christian Aid C19 NALPER · Bridge Clinic
III

Education, Youth, Gender & Governance

Girls' education, youth livelihoods, women's rights and justice reform. We produced Mercy Corps' ENGINE II end-of-project film across Kano, Kaduna and the FCT, PartnersGlobal's documentary on pretrial detention reform, and ActionAid Nigeria's 25th anniversary documentary.

How we work

Built for how development organisations actually operate

01

We work to the programme calendar

Programme films are tied to fixed dates: a launch, a donor visit, an end-of-project deadline. We plan backwards from yours and we do not miss it.

02

Consent and dignity are part of the method

We film vulnerable contributors regularly — patients, survivors, children, smallholder farmers. Informed consent, safeguarding and dignified representation are built into how we work in the field, not added afterwards. A guardian’s consent is obtained before we interview a minor.

03

We film where the programme is

Nationwide, including rural, remote and conflict-affected locations. Our team includes native Hausa speakers with deep Northern Nigeria experience, so interviews happen in the language people actually think in.

04

Deliverables that satisfy the donor

Broadcast-quality masters, cutdowns for social, subtitled and translated versions, stills, and full archive handover. Delivered to your brand guidelines and your donor’s requirements.

HortiNigeria — six-film horticulture series

HortiNigeria, the IFDC-led horticulture programme funded by the Netherlands Embassy, commissioned Latitude Space Africa to produce six films across Lagos, Oyo and Ogun states in December 2023 — documenting smallholder vegetable farmers, agribusiness partners and the programme’s work on productivity and market access. In November 2024 the programme returned to us for a second commission.

We think that second call is the most useful thing on this page. Anyone can win a bid once.
